El interruptor flotante se utiliza en combinación con bombas de lodos sumergibles o bombas de presión sumergibles. El interruptor enciende o apaga automáticamente la bomba según el nivel de agua. Cambiando la posición del peso en el cable de alimentación es posible regular la altura del nivel en el que el interruptor flotante debe encender o apagar la bomba.
